A service officer with the Prince Albert Legion is turning to the media for help locating the family of a Canadian soldier whose photo was left at the Legion hall.
Brenda Cripps has been holding onto the picture of pilot officer John B. Walker for over a year, since finding it left behind on a table after a craft sale sometime around fall of 2019.
“I would like to try to find the family and get it back to them because it means a lot to somebody,” Cripps told paNOW.
She believes Walker is a Second World War veteran. Writing on the back of the photo gives his name, rank and service number.
Despite showing the image to various legion members and calling both Walkers in the phone book, Cripps been unable to turn up any leads.
For Cripps, the search is partly personal, as her father was also a Second World War veteran.
“If it was my dad’s picture that somebody found it would mean a lot to get it back,” she said.
Anyone with information on the man in the photo is asked to call the Royal Canadian Legion Prince Albert Branch #2 at 306-763-7979. The legion is open between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday.
